Week 2 Picks
Sixteen games, sixteen picks. That is all.
Chicago @ Carolina: Two good defenses. Specials teams edge goes to Chicago, but the better Qb is Delhome in Carolina. Carolina by a touchdown.
Tennessee @ Cincinnati: Tennessee will gain some consistency in the passing game if Kerry Collins goes. The Titans signed Chris Simms and I expect to see him in action before the middle of the season. Either way, Cincinnati wins this one by 14 points behind a strong showing from RB Chris Perry.
Green Bay @ Detroit: This detroit team struggled in week one and the Packers were sloppy in their win. Detroit gets things going for the Pack every time they meet. Aaron Rodgers will settle in and throw three touchdowns, Ryan Grant will add a score on the ground, but the Packers will win by just ten points in this divisional match-up.
Buffalo @ Jacksonville: The Bills are better than they have been in years, but Jacksonville is hungry for a win after a week one loss. Jacksonville by a field goal.
Oakland @ Kansas City: Kansas City gets an upgrade at Qb if they stick with Damon Huard. Either way it won’t be enough. Larry Johnson is overworked at running back and the Chiefs defense is full of holes. The Raiders take this one by three scores and three extra points, that’s 21.
Indianapolis @ Minnesota: The Vikings played well in a loss to the Packers last week, and the Colts struggled in a loss to the Bears. Both teams want to win badly. Unfortunately, the Colts are susceptable to the run. The Vikings shove the ball down the Colts throat. Peyton Manning throws at least one pick while playing from behind and the Vikings win by a TD.
New York Giants @ St Louis: The Rams looks horrible last week against the Eagles, especially on defense. The Giants win this one almost as handily as the Eagles did. New York Giants by 17.
New Orleans @ Washington: Washington hasn’t been able to move the ball at all on offense. New Orleans lost WR Marques Colston. The New Orleans back-up receivers will have a better day than the Washington starters. New Orleans wins this one by two touchdowns.
San Francisco @ Seattle:The 49ers didn’t play up to their own expectations last week. The Seahawks have nobody worth mentioning catching the ball with their top four receivers out with injuries. San Francisco wins this one by seven.
Atlanta @ Tampa Bay:Jeff Garcia is on the bench with an injury this week, but even if he weren’t I think Atlanta is out to prove they can compete with the big boys too. Atlanta won’t be able to run the ball nearly as easily as they did against Detroit, but Matt Ryan is one good rookie QB. Atlanta knocks off the NFC South Champion Bucs on a TD throw by Ryan.
Miami @ Arizona: Miami looks much better than they did last year. Unfortunately, that may only mean five wins all season. This won’t be one of them as the Cardinals have visions of pushing Seattle for the division this year. Arizona wins by ten. And, on a fantasy note, Tim Hightower will score twice from inside the five yard line.
San Diego @ Denver: A divisional match-up that features good defense and offense for both teams. This game and their second meeting later this season will likely determine who wins the division. I’m taking the Broncos. Brandon Marshall is back in the line-up at WR. He’ll draw some extra help from the Chargers’ safeties, that leaves Eddie Royal in single coverage on the other side of the field. Royal is the best rookie receiver in the league and looks to make the statement that he is the real deal. Denver b y two touchdowns, both to Royal. Another fantasy note, Eddie Royal returns kicks, starts opposite Brandon Marshall at Wr, and had two carries last week. He’s a definate fantasy starter. Don’t believe the experts, no matter where you play fantasy football, start Eddie Royal and he’ll get you 15 points this week.
New England @ New York Jets: Without Tom Brady this game loses some of its intrigue. The Patriots win depite looking thin at QB. They have too much talent and lots of bulletin board material to get them amped up. Favre and the Jets leave sratching their heads at a two touchdown loss.
Pittsburgh @ Cleveland: The Steelers were dominant last week, and the Browns looked flat. Cleveland knows they must beat the Steelers if they want to win this division. Cleveland by a field goal.
Philadelphia @ Dallas: The Eagles looked great last week against the lowly Rams. Meanwhile the Cowboys took care of a highly touted Browns team. Dallas and the Giants are the real contenders in this division and Dallas will show the Eagles why. Dallas win this one at home by twenty-one.
Baltimore @ Houston: Joe Flacco won’t lose this job now that he has it. Houston’s defense isn’t the greatest and they have a hurricane causing them some worry. This game has been moved to Monday night. That’s just one more night we have to wait to see the Ravens beat the Texans by six.
